Your children's digital footprint

Six things to check with them this weekend

SJ Group International Readiness Brief: Your children's digital footprint, six things to check with them this weekend

Children's accounts are often far more open than parents realise.

  1. Search their names. Together, see what a stranger could find in five minutes.

  2. Lock down settings. Accounts set to private, location sharing switched off.

  3. Look at the background. Uniforms, house numbers and car plates in photos give a lot away.

  4. Review followers. Remove anyone they have never actually met.

  5. Talk about messages. Agree what to do if someone they do not know gets in touch.

  6. Set a posting rule. Share after, not during. No live locations, ever.

Remember: Make it a conversation, not a lecture.
