The family crisis team

Who does what when it matters most

SJ Group International Readiness Brief: The family crisis team, who does what when it matters most

In a crisis, everyone wants to help and nobody knows their job. Decide the roles now, while everyone is calm.

  • Role 1, the decision maker: makes the final call, with advice, so decisions are never made by committee.

  • Role 2, the voice: the only person who speaks for the family, on the phone and to anyone outside.

  • Role 3, the record keeper: writes down every call, message, time and decision as it happens.

  • Role 4, the carer: looks after the people who are waiting, especially children and older relatives.

  • Role 5, the link: keeps in touch with the police, your adviser and your insurer.

Remember: Name a second person for every role.
